52 Patterns in 2013 #2

Happy Superbowl Day!

I think the Superbowl has become a national holiday. All the hype and food around it… it might as well be!!

So, here’s a little back story on this week’s patterns. Yes, patternS!

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed I got a comment from Dale’s Fried Pies saying I should do one with rolling pins and fried pies. Well, sure I can do that!

I’ve been really excited about this challenge all week. I really wanted something fun, vibrant and cute. I really enjoyed looking through the blog and website of Dales Fried Pies and that’s what I found… fun, vibrant and cute!

This pattern I designed is pretty busy, but sometimes you just need several elements to tell a visual story! I think this pattern would make a super cute tea towel!! My daughter texted me and said I should get this into fabric and make a apron. Now, that’s a fun idea!

As most of you know, the red and blue combo is my fav. But here I added browns in several tones, from the fried pies to the rolling pin and spatula. I really love the coffee cups in between the different blocks. Plus, rotating the pattern blocks around to create movement added a lot of depth to this page.

I created the fried pie in Illustrator using one of the images from Dales Fried Pies website. I played with Illustrator’s Live Trace functions and got a real nice representation of the fried pie. I’m a happy girl!

I really liked the coffee cups in between the panels on this page. So, I created two additional pages, one in red and one in blue with just a simple coffee cup pattern.

And then, I really wanted something similar but different… a variation on this theme. So, I came up with a smaller set of baking icons with a plate and fork. ‘Cause you need to be able to eat your pie!

So, I love all four of these digital pages. I hope you do too! In fact, I love them so, so much, that I added them to my shop.

So, if you love this digital paper collection, please stop by my shop and “heart” this item. It helps it get higher up in the search engines. Thanks!

So, for this week, I’m sharing the first digital pattern with apron and fried pies. I hope you love it, use it and share it. This file is a 300 dpi file, so it may take a bit to download, depending on your internet speed, please be patient.
