Pretty Pendants

Here we go… a new adventure in creating! You know me,  I am always trying to find new things to create.

I’ve made holiday tags, a desk calendar, mixed media art, Valentine’s banner, tea towels, little putz glitter houses, Downton Abbey wallpaper for your computer and even a little art print for your desk and some cute graphics for around your house or the kid’s room.

Next stop… PENDANTS!

These pendants were available for purchase on Pick Your Plum, so I snatched up a few.

So, I went to Michael’s and got some closures to add a little hook onto the top so you can easily hook the pendant on any necklace or bracelet.

Then I created some graphics to glue to the top. My pendant measured 3/4″ in diameter.

These are for my family and a friend. (From L to R) Gracie is my neice, “D” is for my sister, “B” is for my BFF, “G” is for my neice, Alyssa, who goes to U. of Georgia and the two “L’s” are for my sister-in-laws. I figure I’d send these on for Mother’s Day and the nieces get their’s, “just because.”

I cut these out, easy-peasy, with a 3/4″ circle punch, which was VERY difficult to find.

Don’t they look super cute sitting in their little pendant pad?

I’ve never made jewelry before, so I chose this stuff to glue the graphic to the pendant. It has warnings all over it about not touching it with your hands, etc. So I DIDN’T!! That kind of warning makes me nervous! I did notice after it was affixed, it did discolor the white paper. The ink probably bled a little. So, if you know something better that will work, please let me know. I’d love to try something different where the ink doesn’t run.

Then I used Modge Podge Dimension Magic to add a glass layer on top.

Here they are with the Dimensional Magic on top. I did a test run with this and was successful with NO air bubbles. This time however, no such luck! All those blobs are me trying to coax those little air bubbles out and I got a lot of run out. Those little air bubbles are STUBBORN!

After an overnight of drying time, here is what they look like.

I think they are SUPER CUTE! I love how they turned out! I did have a casuality    :(          … can you tell which one?

I’ll be making a few more, one for myself, my daughter, my Mom and I’ll be re-doing the casualty.

These were a lot of fun to make! It went real fast up to the point when you have to let the Dimensional Magic dry overnight. I’m always looking that them… trying not to touch them during the drying time!

I’m having a great time creating new things I’ve never made before! I thought if I had enough materials, I’d love to make one for next month’s giveaway. We’ll have to see how it goes.

And, I hope I’m showing you how easy these DIY craft projects are and you are making some things for yourself.

Speaking of giveaway’s, have you signed up to enter the Etsy Greetings Team Loves Mom Giveaway? We are giving away over 40 handmade cards. Lots of great cards, for birthdays, mother’s and father’s day cards, and stationery to send LOVE to your family and friends. This giveaway ends April 23rd.

Until next time, here’s a new project on my radar.

  1. Loving the turquoise B!

  2. I want to make some of these, do you have them for sale?

  3. How cute…I love your pendants. thanks so much for linking up and sharing with the newbie party.

  4. I was wondering if you had the pendants and the gel stuff for the top but I see that you purchased them elsewhere. I think I can get that at my local craft store too. I have had so much fun making Christmas Goblet markers and wanted to make some with family member names on them so all year we have them when it is just our family. At Christmas I have up to 50 people for Christmas Eve and it is fun for everyone to have a goblet marker.
